In honor of m' da

My father taught me this song when I was a wee lass and introduced me to the film soon after. He is ill now and I'm hoping all that fighting he did back in Catholic school has prepared him for this fight; he's got to get well so we can dance to this song at my wedding. I love ya, Da...

Oh Baby Baby...

I’ve never been a big fan of B.S. I’ve always thought she gave blonde Southern women a bad name (as if they didn’t have to do enough damage control). She’s clearly about as smart as Jessica Simpson and has about as much talent; sure they are (were) both hot and can dance, but that’s about it.

That being said, lately, my heart goes out to Brit. What she is going through is truly sad and should not be mocked. I mean, she started hanging out with Paris Hilton, which is always a clear sign that a person is circling the drain. Then she shaved her head, in public… which, for a girl like B, is about as big a cry for help as you can get, short of actually attempting suicide.

The girl has clearly had a meltdown, and to make matters worse, she’s the mother of two.

My grandmother had a nervous breakdown when she was a young, single mother of two and had to leave my mother and uncle in the care of their grandparents while she went for a hospital stay. But she didn’t have to do it in front of the entire country.

I had a similar experience, less privately, but luckily I was unmarried and childless at the time. It is never fun to hit rock bottom, for whatever reason; losing touch with reality, feeling ultimate desperation, acting in crazy ways that no one understands, including you? None of these are experiences I’d recommend. But sometimes they are what a person has to go through to finally wake up and change for the better. But such a transformation needs understanding, friendship, and love. Not flashbulbs and magazine covers.

So Brit, I feel ya, girl—I know how hard it is… I truly hope you are able to get through this and get better soon.

And speaking of Hilton...

The Hiltons or some other wealthy hotel owners should step up and give free temporary housing to the victims of this fire who survived. They should've done so with the hurricane victims too. Lord knows they've got money to burn (pun intended), I mean just look at all the crap Paris has. Her family's money should do some good for a change.

"The dramatic scene unfolded during New York's City's deadliest blaze in 17 years - a fire that claimed nine victims early Thursday, eight children and one adult. . .In 37 years, said fire Chief of Department Salvatore Cassano, "I can't recollect a fire where we lost eight children.'' The fire, which raged for two hours, ignited near a mattress in a ground-level bedroom, caused from an overloaded space heater, Cassano said. Authorities said 22 people, including 17 children, lived inside the one-family house that was converted into two apartments on four floors. Many were stranded on the upper floors after the basement fire raced quickly up the stairs shortly after it began around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

The dead were found throughout the house, mostly on the upper floors, with babies still in their cribs, said one fire official."

Just when I thought I couldn't love South Park anymore...

I saw the episode where they call Paris Hilton out for being a spoiled, stupid, talentless whore. I am so glad I'm not the only one who believes that young girls looking up to her is a national disaster. Poor Tinkerbell!
